Position Title: Head of Operations

Our client is seeking to recruit a Head of Operations who will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the organization. This includes managing policy administration, claims processing, customer service, and risk management processes. The candidate will also work to streamline operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and enhance efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitoring company targets on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure targets are met on a monthly basis.
  1. Drive treaty medical and general insurance reinsurance negotiations with reinsurers and reinsurer's brokers to ensure that suitable reinsurance programs for the company are in place.
  1. Monitor facultative for both medical and general reinsurance inwards to ensure that reciprocity is favorable and carefully monitor acceptable terms.
  1. Ensure proper handling of both medical and general insurance matters and provision of technical reinsurance training to the technical teams.
  1. Coordinate the supervision of both medical and general reinsurance matters and provision of technical reinsurance training to subsidiaries to facilitate the profitable management of the reinsurance business.
  1. Monitor broker and client service in such areas as issuing policies, processing of claims, and attending to inquiries to maintain high standards of service delivery.
  1. Ensure the company list of services is periodically vetted and updated in line with business guidelines.
  1. Ensure that the renewal terms are satisfactory in light of existing market conditions and statistical information.
  1. Ensure that professional claims are maintained by adhering to the set turnaround times for all claims processes including payments.
  1. Formulate plans for launching relevant medical and general insurance products in line with the market needs.
  1. Ensure implementation of risk improvement measures for accounts in the company's books, including identifying exposures with significant loss potential and overseeing the implementation of appropriate corrective action.
  1. Ensure prudent risk evaluation through the application of critical thinking to determine the adequacy of controls, loss, and overall insurability of risks.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Commerce, Business Law, or relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Proven 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Solid analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, analyse performance, and make data-driven decisions
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong customer service skills
