Position Title: Temporary Assistants - Issuer Governance

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya.

The Authority invites applications for the following position:

2 Positions

The job holder will be reporting to the Manager, Issuer Governance and will be responsible for the analysis of corporate governance structures and practices by issuers of securities and institutional investors.

Contract Period: 6 Months

The key responsibilities for the position:

1. Conducting analysis of corporate governance structures and practices by issuers of securities to determine compliance with the Code of Corporate Governance Practices for issuers of securities;

2. Organizing and participating in forums and other engagements with the issuers of securities, the institutional investors and other key stakeholders to facilitate
compliance with the code of corporate governance and the stewardship code;

3. Developing, reviewing and updating governance scorecards and assessment tools;

4. Preparing materials for issuers and stakeholder engagements as and when required;

5. Organizing and participating in sensitization workshops and seminars for institutional investors and issuers on Corporate Governance and Environmental,
Social & Governance (ESG);

6. Maintaining updated databases on all information on corporate governance compliance and standards and undertake trend analysis;

7. Implementing quality management systems and continuously identifying and managing governance and sustainability risks;

8. Attending and participating in division and other task specific committees with internal and external stakeholders as and when required;

9. Preparing relevant reports on Corporate Governance and ESG matters under consideration; and

10. Undertake any other responsibilities as and when assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

1. Bachelor’s Degree in law, finance, business related or relevant field;

2. Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CISA, CFA is an added advantage;

3. Minimum of one year of relevant experience will be an added advantage;

Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

i. Communication, report writing and presentation skills;

ii. Analytical skills to effectively and efficiently assess good governance practices of issuers of securities to the public;

iii. Knowledge of the capital markets regulatory framework relating to governance of issuers of securities to the public;

iv. Knowledge of emerging issues and new developments on ESG aspects;

v. Ability to maintain high standards of integrity;

vi. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team; and

vii. Drive for results.
