Call for Consultancy to conduct institutional mapping for persons with disabilities in Kajiado Central Subcounty - Girl Child Network

IMPROVING INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

TERMS OF REFERENCE – CONDUCT MAPPING OF SERVICE PROVIDERS IN KAJIADO CENTRAL SUB COUNTY

01. Background

Girl Child Network (GCN) is an independent membership organization that is non-political, non-religious, and non-profit registered in Kenya, Reg. No’ OP.218/051/12 – 0334/8160, with the regional operation. Since 1995, GCN has been implementing education programs nationally in partnership with other key stakeholders and service providers. The close cooperation between the different governmental and non-governmental institutions responsible for early childhood development, basic education, early identification, and school placement starts with a positive attitude toward persons with disabilities. Documentation of various service providers whose services target persons with disabilities will contribute positively to improved linkages, partnerships, and improved service delivery to persons and children with disabilities.

02. Consultancy Rationale

Timely identification in the treatment of diseases can lead to reduced chances or the prevalence of disabilities. In Kajiado County there are many organizations and structures that provide services for children with disabilities. However, parents or caregivers of children with disabilities often do not know these organizations exist, or where they are located, and what kind of services they offer.

For improved partnership, linkages, and effective service delivery GCN(Girl Child Network) seeks to engage an external consultant to collect data on service providers working in Kajiado County to develop a database for these service providers. The database will support improved access to services for children and persons with disabilities. Some of the targeted service providers include; Faith-Based Organizations, NGOs, youth and women groups, government institutions, and departments among others.

Specific Objectives

  • To map out institutions offering services to persons with disabilities
  • To identify various services offered to persons with disabilities in Kajiado Central Sub County.

Expected Outputs

  • Institutions offering services to persons with disabilities mapped out
  • Various services targeted to persons with disabilities identified within Kajiado Central Sub County.

03. Expected Deliverables

1 comprehensive and detailed service providers database that clearly outlines various service providers, their location and contact addresses, the kind of services they offer to persons and children with disabilities, and any other referral pathways they may have.2 printed hard-bound copies and 1 soft copy of the report will be submitted at the end of the engagement.

04. Scope of Work

The activity will be carried out in 10 working days across the 5 Kajiado Central Sub County wards. The mapping out of service providers will occur for 10 days across the 5 Kajiado Central Sub County wards. The consultant will be expected to develop a list/database of all service providers within the Kajiado Central Sub-County and the various types of services that they offer to persons with disabilities. Additionally, the database should clearly outline these service providers' physical locations and contact addresses.

05. Qualifications

Degree in special education, education, or any other relevant social sciences and Masters’s qualifications with more than 10 years of experience conducting surveys of similar nature. Consultancy firms should submit a detailed company profile and other statutory documents such as registration documents and KRA Pin Certificate and testimonials while individual bidders should submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae, testimonials, and KRA Pin Certificate.
