HSSE & Maintenance Engineer Job Vacancy in Kenya

Our client is one of the leading oils and gas company in the region, they are looking at adding to their pool of competent staffing a HSSE & Maintenance Engineer.

The successful candidate will ensure high standards of HSSE in all company sites and equipment is well maintained to ensure uptime to support optimal operations to promote reliability thus accomplishing targeted through put.

Key Result Areas

  • Design and implement HSSE & maintenance strategies, procedures and processes including adherence to statutory requirements.‎
  • Ensure safety of equipment and minimal downtime.
  • Plan and effect Preventative Maintenance Programs (PMP) to maximize equipment up time.
  • Daily follow up on repairs and maintenance calls including dealing with emergencies, unplanned breakdowns and repairs.
  • Scoping for works in company sites, prepare tender documents, negotiate and award Equipment contracts and issue SLAs oversee equipment installation and commissioning.‎
  • Develop auditable system to track maintenance calls from all company sites.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date and auditable assets database.
  • Ensure Company HSSEQ policy is adhered to by all contractors and suppliers.
  • Overall management of the HSSE activities to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Conduct HSSE risk Assessments and audits in accordance with the JIG, HSSEMS and NEMA Regulations, prepare and submit non-conformance reports to the Management.
  • Conducts accident and incident investigations and provide recommendations to the Management.
  • Maintain a data base of lessons learnt from all accident and incidents
  • Coordinate contractors’ meetings to review and resolve any maintenance issues.
  • Train and coach staff about HSSE including wearing PPE at all company sites.
  • Any other duties directed by the HoD

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bsc Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or similar qualification from a recognized University.‎
  • Additional certification in Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) or related areas ‎including Industrial safety will be an added advantage.‎
  • Knowledge of Incident investigation techniques such as TapRoot or 5 Why Investigation ‎Techniques.‎
  • Three years Working experience in Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) in the Energy Sector or ‎a large company.‎
