Position Title: Human Resource Manager

Organization: Ubuntu Life Foundation

Location: Maai – Mahiu

The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management and administration of all Human Resource Management functions including staff recruitment and career development, Industrial relations, reward and benefits schemes, performance management, Office Administration, compliance with local and international standards and laws, medical administration, and record management. They will report to the Program Director.

Laterally interacts with all HR Staff, Managers, supervisory staff, and fellow employees in the organisation as well as Union officials and Labour Office.

Key Duties:

  • Develop, review and implement policies, procedures and practices that support attainment of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensure staff recruitment for regular and term contracts. Develop and ensure proper induction of all new staff as per the Company’s standards.
  • Review and optimise employee’s job description on a regular basis.
  • Develop and maintain an effective Human Resources Information System.
  • Facilitate and participate in annual and periodic staff performance appraisals at all levels of Company employees and review their Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) from time to time to ensure optimisation of their performance.
  • Prepare annual staff remuneration budget and retention programs proposal in line with Organization strategy.
  • Prepare and implement an annual staff training program and ensure efficient reimbursement.
  • Ensure staff clocking system is in place and develop linkage with the payroll.
  • Plan, manage, control and process authorised annual leaves, or absence in respect of maternity, sick leaves.
  • Monitor the staff discipline and implement in liaison with the other departments, all the corrective action process necessary, develop the company disciplinary committee to address disciplinary issues.
  • Develop systems to minimise risk of accident within the organisation and organise regular training for firefighting, first aid and safe handling of pesticide among others.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with all statutory licenses and registrations.
  • Prepare and facilitate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with all international and national standards that the company subscribes to.
  • Coordinate and ensure proper utilisation of organization vehicles including preventive maintenance, service, and repairs.
  • Maintain a high profile of health, safety and environment program and coordinate first aid, fire, and safety trainings accordingly.
  • Prepare within the set deadlines the necessary information, reports and statistics to Executive Director / Program Director (Weekly report, monthly report, Board Meeting report)
  • Carry out any other duties at the request of the Executive Director / Program Director as may be assigned from time to time.


  • Minimum Degree in Human Resources Management.
  • Experience of at least 3 years relevant experience in a busy HR Department.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Self-driven and result oriented.
  • Integrity is a key element for this position.
  • Fully compliant with Labour Laws.
  • Fully compliant with Ms PowerPoint Presentation, Excel & Word.
