Jamii Sacco Head of Finance & Strategy Job Vacancy in Kenya

Jamii Sacco is a Deposit Taking Sacco (DTS) registered under the Cooperative Societies Act Cap 490 (Amended 2004) of the laws of Kenya and licensed by SASRA.

The objectives for which the Society was established are to organize and promote the quality of life of the members by providing quality financial services.

The following position is vacant and the Sacco would like to fill:

Job Title: Head of Finance & Strategy

Grade: J-D2

Department: Finance

Job Type: Contract – Three (3) Years renewable on performance

Location: Nairobi

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the CEO, The job holder is responsible for delivering key corporate strategies; provide strategic financial & business advice in addition to managing financial reporting, budgeting, prudent management and investment of resources of the business whilst keeping an oversight and reporting of the implementation of strategy across the business.

FUNCTIONS / KEY RESULTS EXPECTED

The Job holder is responsible for:

(a) To ensure the Sacco has quality financial information at all times.

(b) To lead business model and forecast.

(c) To contribute to the Sacco’s performance and efficiency.

(d) To ensure the Sacco is adapting appropriately to change and responding adequately to risks.

(e) To strategic think as a member of top management.

(f) To ensure Sacco competitiveness through environmental scanning and competitor analysis.

(g) To advise Management on financial implications of new and existing ventures.

(h) To proper financial planning and availability of cash for various activities.

(i) To coordinate programmes and projects with other members of the team and across the business.

(j) To spearhead the SACCO’s overall short and long term strategic planning issues, undertakes annual reviews on implementation progress and compiles and submits progress reports to the management for further action.

(k) To coordinate the formulation of policies.

(l) To review and appraise corporate plans and strategies in liaison with other operational departments.

(m) To conduct evaluation of the performance of all the business lines and recommend appropriate course of action.

(n) To conduct regular research on new lines of business and advice the management accordingly.

(o) To assist in the formulation, interpretation and implementation of Reform Programs by analyzing policy options, monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the proposed measures.

(p) To prepare and submit monthly reports.

(q) Any other duty that may be assigned by the CEO

IMPACT OF RESULTS

  • Overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Society including improved business results and client services.
  • A well-run Finance function impacts on the Sacco’s ability to acquire and allocate resources that meets the Sacco’s financial requirements that are an essential element for the attainment of its corporate objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent plus CPA (K)/ACCA or equivalent qualifications.
  • Member of a relevant professional body.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years working experience in financial management, 5 of which must be in a senior management level as a Finance Manager.

  • Police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct)
  • Tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
  • Clearance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
  • Clearance certificate from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
