Our client, a catamaran ferry manufacturer and operator that offers safe and affordable transport of passengers and goods on Lake Victoria, providing the essential link between the lake’s islands and the mainland serving Kenya and Uganda seeks to recruit an Operations Manager.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced manager and administrator able to interact with regulatory authorities and independently manage a business division.
In addition to proven business acumen, the candidate should have experience in safely and efficiently managing passenger operations, vessel captains and crews to deliver cost effective daily vessel operations.
The Candidate should be hands on and able to travel to operational sites and lead by example to create a safe, efficient and customer-oriented operation.
Key Accountabilities
- The Operations Manager ensures that all aspects of a business operate smoothly
- Ensure that the Uganda division adheres to all country regulations and cultural guidelines.
- Building the company brand in Uganda and creates awareness through promotional plans and advertising to position the company as the preferred transport provider.
- Ensure that all vessels are operated safely in accordance with Company legislative and customer requirements.
- Provide surety that crews are competent and vessels are operated safely without accidents or incident and meet scheduled sailing and arrival times
- Inspect all vessels within scheduled targets and ensures that valid navigational licenses and maintenance are at all times
- Ensure that all marine assets are operated within budgeted targets.
- Provide accurate and objective customer information that drives / stimulates improvement in performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Diploma in a relevant field.
- Excellent safety management track record in the maritime sector preferred
- Practical operational management experience within the marine industry preferred
- Strong planning organization skills
- “Hands-on” leader who “Leads by Example”
- Experience in the transportation sector essential
