Position Title: Executive Director
Our client, Ekklesia Afrika is an organization which is committed to strengthening the church in Africa by providing access to theological resources through publishing, informal theological training and hosting conferences and events. They are looking for a seasoned individual to join their team in the position of Executive Director.
Job Purpose
The Executive Director of Ekklesia Afrika will play a pivotal role in leading the organization towards its mission of equipping the church in Africa with theological resources through its various ministries - publishing, informal theological training (Soma), the Nairobi Institute of Reformed Theology (NIRT) and through conferences and events. This role requires a leader who can strategically oversee operations, manage relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure the alignment of all activities with the organization's mission to address the theological resource gap in the African church.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement Ekklesia Afrika’s vision and mission, aligning with the organization's goal of providing theological resources to build up healthy churches in Africa.
- Formulate and implement strategic plans that encompass publishing, theological training, and event hosting, addressing the unique challenges faced by the African church.
Communications and Promotion:
- Develop and execute effective marketing strategies to promote theological resources, emphasizing their rootedness in and relevance to the African church and beyond.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create campaigns that resonate with the target audience and highlight the organization's mission and impact.
Fiscal Development and Management:
- Develop and manage the annual budget, focusing on fiscal responsibility and strategic resource allocation to support the organization's mission.
- Explore and pursue sustainable revenue-generating opportunities, leveraging partnerships, grants, and collaborations.
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in the creation, publication, and distribution of theological resources.
- Collaborate with department heads to streamline workflows, ensuring resources are not only available but also culturally relevant and affordable for the African context.
Staff Leadership and Development
- Lead the Ekklesia Afrika staff team, fostering a collaborative work environment that reflects the organization's commitment to theological resourcing in Africa.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities, ensuring staff are equipped to fulfill the organization's mission.
Relationship Building
- Foster the equipping and empowerment of authors and pastor-scholars from the African continent to meet the theological resource gap.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with international publishers through copyright agreements, ensuring a continuous flow of sound theological resources.
- Partner with like-minded ministries and churches on the continent and internationally to ensure the attainment of Ekklesia’s goals.
Minimum Requirements:
Education, Knowledge, And Experience
- The candidate must possess a Master's degree in Theology and/or Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in Christian ministry
- Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience;
- Skilled at managing donor relations and has the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- Strong understanding of the Christian publishing industry and theological education landscape would be an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and implement innovative solutions.
- The candidate must demonstrate upstanding Christian character that meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership; Previous pastoral experience is preferred.
- They must be an active and faithful participant in a local church.
- The candidate should appreciate and be aligned with the team, ministry and vision of Ekklesia Afrika. The candidate should affirm Ekklesia Afrika’s Statement of Faith.
- Must embrace a sense of catholicity with an ability to work well with a diverse group of Christians from different backgrounds.
