Position Title: Deputy Chief of Party

Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a leading National Faith Based Organization (FBO) of Protestant churches’ health facilities and programs from all over Kenya, established in 1946 with a goal of promoting access to quality health care.

Christian Health Association of Kenya is seeking for a highly experienced Deputy Chief of Party to be based in Meru for a USAID-funded Jamii Tekelezi Project (UJTP).

Job Purpose:

The job holder is responsible for providing overall program activity management and technical leadership ensuring technical soundness, quality and safety of interventions delivered at facilities in alignment to donor requirements, national guidelines, and global best practices.

Report To: Chief of Party

Supervision: Service Delivery Advisors

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design and implement quality Prevention, Care and Treatment services at supported facilities to meet targeted objective and needs of beneficiaries.
  2. Serve as program technical lead by providing guidance to the Clinical Technical Advisory Program Team in activities including design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation in coordination with the Program Director.
  3. Ensure program activities are conducted professionally to reflect best practices including but not limited to organizational policies, PEPFAR, UNAIDS, WHO, Ministry of Health guidelines.
  4. Provide technical quality assurance through support site improvement and monitoring systems at facility level as well as capacity building, mentoring and technical support to Clinical Technical Team and Site Level Staff.
  5. Participate in development of training materials, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Aids, and supportive supervision tools required to ensure program technical excellence and good client outcomes.
  6. Develop and maintain good relationships with Donors, Ministry of Health teams, County Government Health Management teams, Implementing Partners/Sub-recipients, and other stakeholders.
  7. Lead knowledge management, scientific and technical leadership efforts and the documentation of lessons and project outcomes.
  8. Ensure program strategies and approaches are evidence based and aligned with relevant guidelines.
  9. Participate and provide leadership at relevant technical advisory and policy meetings and forums.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

Academic & Professional Qualifications:

  1. Masters or Advanced degree in a Clinical or Public Health discipline (Medicine, Nursing, Epidemiology)
  2. Hold a Certificate of Registration from a relevant Professional Council
  3. Hold a Valid Practice License from a relevant Professional Council

Experience:

  1. At least 8 years technical leadership experience working in health sector.
  2. 5 years’ experience in HIV and TB Prevention, Care and Treatment.
  3. Demonstrable experience and knowledge of planning and designing interventions in HIV/AIDS.
  4. Demonstrable ability to report, monitor, evaluate budgets.
