Reports to: Operations Manager
Direct reports: Accounts Assistants, ICT Assistants
Sheria Housing Co-Operative Society Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the post of Finance Officer.
The job holder is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the financial & ICT affairs of the Society with the aim of ensuring fiscal discipline and providing financial stewardship to the Society in line with the strategic plans, shared values and policies.
Key Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee establishment and implementation of departmental strategies, systems, processes, procedures and policy formulation.
- Oversee the operation of finance, accounts and ICT.
- Oversee statutory and project audits of the Society.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sectional reports
- Manage human resources and other resources in the finance & ICT Sections.
- Provide leadership in performance management, employee development, talent management and building a work environment that drives high performance and employee satisfaction in the department
- Manage the departmental budget to ensure efficacy and attainment of set targets
Operational Responsibilities / Tasks
- Set financial objectives consistent with the policies and strategies of the Society.
- Carry out formulation, preparation and monitoring of the Society’s and departmental budgets.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, policies, strategies, procedures and standards for the Society.
- Review of cash books/ monthly bank reconciliation statements.
- Prepare financial reports for management and the Board of Directors.
- Advise the management and board on finance & ICT issues.
- Carry out any other relevant duty as assigned by the immediate supervisor

- Works predominantly within the office.
Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, business administration or related field.
- CPA(K), ACCA
- At least 4 years of relevant experience
- Leadership and management skills
- Knowledge of principles and standard practices of accounting.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and control process
- Knowledge of grant procedures and practices.
- IT Proficiency
- Communication skills
