Position Title: Senior IT Officer

Summary

Established in 1979, Feed the Children exists to defeat childhood hunger. It is one of the largest U.S.-based charities and serves those in need in the U.S. and in 8 countries around the world. It provides food, education initiatives, essentials and disaster response.

The Senior IT Officer is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of FEED’s technology infrastructure.

Essential Job Function

  • Support in Managing of technology services that meet operational requirements in countries where Feed the Children runs programs.
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
  • Manage an IT Helpdesk service to provide 2nd & 3rd line support to users ensuring that all system & process issues among other incidents are logged and tracked to completion using formal documentation.
  • Talk staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face or remotely, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Provides technical leadership on a variety of highly specialized project-related activities requiring expertise in specific technical areas for core information technology systems and services.
  • Reviews vendor contracts and coordinates IT purchases (hardware, software and services) to ensure effective deployment of solutions aligned with user needs.
  • Identifying and acting on opportunities to improve and update software and systems.
  • Conduct regular Audit of IT systems and assess their outcomes.
  • To help to triage and where possible resolve issues immediately or to log and escalate as appropriate.
  • To support and advise on downtime procedures and business continuity to ensure that they are adopted successfully in their allocated local work area.
  • Training and coaching of IT staff on Infrastructure acquisition, implementation and maintenance.
  • Identify gaps and problematic areas and provide technical solutions to address them.
  • Ensure preservation of ICT assets, information security and control structures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related information technology field. An advanced degree in a related field would be an added advantage.
  • Formal Training/Certification in Information Systems security (CISM).
  • Post graduate qualifications in any three or more; Cisco Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified Professional (Windows Server Services/DBA), Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals, AWS certified Cloud practitioner or ITIL.
  • 10+ years in a similar IT support role within a busy environment. Experience in supporting a modern ERP would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in managing Azure infrastructure services.
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively to offer IT support to others, including remote colleagues.
  • Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Works in a normal office environment where there are few physical discomforts associated with changes in the weather or noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

The incumbent’s working conditions are typically moderately quiet.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Accounting — Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Computer Skills – Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Advanced MS Excel skills, experience with MAS 90 and SAGE 100 helpful but not required. Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
