Project Manager Job Vacancy in Kenya - Girl Child Network

Project Manager - Based in Nairobi with regular field visits

Girl Child Network (GCN) is an independent, non-political, non-religious, non-profit organization registered in Kenya, Reg. No’ OP.218/051/12 – 0334/8160, established in 1995 after the Fourth World Conference on Women, in Beijing by participating Kenyan Civil Society Organisations to facilitate in implementation of the Beijing Plan of Action, specifically Article 12. Key programming Strategic Objectives include; education for inclusion, green skills for a greener future, gender and governance, research& documentation, human rights and legislation, institutional strengthening, climate change adaptation, and health on wheels.

Green Youth 360 Project

GCN is anticipating receiving grants to implement a project dubbed, “Green Youth 360”, a 3-year project that will be implemented in Dadaab and Kakuma Refugee Camps and within the host communities. The Project target to work with public primary and secondary schools with a view of supporting the youth and the children to acquire green skills needed to adapt processes, services, and products to climate change and the environmental regulations and requirements related to it. These skills include; knowledge, abilities, values, and attitudes needed to live in, develop and support a sustainable and resource-efficient society for a greener future and sustainable development.

The Project Manager will be the project lead and will specifically be in charge of partnership management and communication, coordination of all the project activities between GCN, implementing partners, and other key stakeholders, supporting capacity assessment and capacity strengthening of implementing partners on all project-related functions. Further, the manager will also be in charge of supporting the development of project performance measurement frameworks, supporting all M&E processes, development of work plans and budget projections, and reporting among other functions.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or Community Development, and a Master’s Degree from a recognized institution of higher learning with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a similar position in a national or international NGO. S/he should have strong knowledge on education, green skills and, climate change adaptation issues at both the national and regional level; possess excellent, management and coordination, communication, partnership, documentation, and report writing skills.
