Murang’a County Creameries Co-operative Union Limited (MCCCU) is a farmers-owned Dairy Co-operative Union located in Murang’a County.

Its core mandates include Dairy milk procurement, bulking and joint marketing.

Job Title: Production Officer

Reporting To: Operations Manager

Start Date: Soonest possible

Overall purpose of the job: To oversee and manage the daily production operations at the Feed Mill whilst ensuring the mandatory requirements are met.

Further, ensure the quality of the product, meet the production targets and maintain the efficiency of the production process.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee the Feeds mill daily operations and attain the production asset productivity through KPIs;
  • Comply with all prevailing regulations on Health and Safety, and environment and sustainability;
  • Research, formulate, review and implement a feeds formulation formula;
  • Formulate, review and implement production policies and SOPs geared towards efficient processes and sustainable products;
  • Oversee the development of high-quality products that meet the needs of the market;
  • Oversee the production processes quality assurance and controls by maintain accurate and verifiable laboratory data for action;
  • Perform the daily capturing, analyses and reporting of Production data, including actual KPIs versus budget and working with the Production team to address the areas of non-conformance or concern;
  • Communicate with Maintenance with regards to availability of mill for maintenance;
  • Manage the production team and train them;
  • Contribute to the production annual budget;
  • Contribute to business intelligence;
  • Compile daily production plans and analyse production data;
  • Conduct production meetings with staff to review progress and address any issues;
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure the products meet company standards;
  • Encourage cost-cutting initiatives to optimize production processes;
  • And any other duties assigned by the Operations Manager.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

The Job holder must possess:

  • Must have a diploma in Animal nutrition and production or related course;
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar plant management role will be required;
  • Must be computer literate with appropriate knowledge in MS Office suite;
  • Extensive knowledge of feed milling, formulation and related logistics is important;
  • Abreast of the latest technologies, skills and trends in animal Production;
  • Knowledge of Safety and Risk Management is essential;
  • High levels of integrity, strong management/interpersonal skills, and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, conflict, ethical management, and excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent organisational skills with keen attention to detail;
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships;
  • Ability to stick to time constraints.
