Grants & Finance Manager Career Opportunity in Kenya

Position Title: Grants & Finance Manager

Our client is a progressive organization in Technology working with young people.

They are looking for a Grants & Finance Manager, reporting directly to the Executive Director.

The successful candidate will be In charge of the financial and administrative functions of the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform general accounting tasks, including reconciling and maintaining the books of accounts
  • Ensure proper negotiation of the terms and conditions for subcontracts and grants
  • Contribute to establishing, maintaining, and improving active and regular working relationships with donors/partners.
  • Perform financial analysis, prepare financial reports and perform management tasks
  • Ensure continuous improvement of grant and procurement design management.
  • Validate transactions and verify their overall impact on the general accounts
  • Review financial paperwork and procedures, provide recommendations and implement them
  • Ensure that all expenses are within the assigned project budget
  • Verify payments vouchers and supporting documentation
  • Prepare payments, and bank transfers and do the bank transactions
  • Ensure account receivables and payables activities are performed accurately and timely
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies, and other financial-related issues
  • Coordinate financial audits; implement audit observations and recommendations;
  • In charge of cash flow projection, asset management, supplier payment, payroll processing, and statutory compliance
  • Policy management and internal control

Required Specifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position in the NGO sector.
  • Experience in grant and fund management
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Accounting or equivalent
  • CPA/ACCA Qualification and experience with a variety of accounting software e.g Quick books
  • Digital/tech enthusiast with a passion to explore and improve business processes (e.g. procurement)
  • Experience in project management and proposal development
  • Ability to work independently, ability to multitask, and prioritize competing tasks;
  • High integrity, ethics, good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
