Group of Schools Human Resource Manager Job Vacancy in Nairobi, Kenya

Our client, a group of schools in Nairobi, is looking to hire a Human Resource Manager.

The job holder will be responsible for supervising HR personnel, dealing with employee grievances and disputes, supporting employee development, enhancing job satisfaction, designing on boarding procedures, implementing HR strategies that support business objectives, forecasting staffing needs, mitigating risk, structuring benefit packages, maintaining employee records, managing budgets, designing accountability mechanisms, and overseeing overall employment needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and controlling the activities and actions of the HR department
  • Contributing to the development of HR department goals, objectives and systems
  • Contribute to the formulation of the HR strategy in line company’s business plan and
    strategies
  • Develop and monitor an annual budget that includes Human Resources services,
    employee recognition, sports teams support, company philanthropic giving, and
    administration.
  • Deploy performance management and follow through on performance outcomes; setting
    goals, monitoring, evaluations, performance development plans (PDPs) and
    implementation of performance actions.
  • Develop, implement and update human resource policies, procedures and programs
  • In collaboration with line managers identify training needs for both teaching and non-
    teaching staff; develop the training calendar, source for trainers and ensure training
    programs are deployed and effectiveness is measured.
  • Implement innovative strategies for timely acquisition of talent to support service
    delivery
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit
    interviews to determine reasons behind separations
  • Selects and supervises Human Resources consultants, attorneys, and training
    specialists, and coordinates company use of insurance brokers, insurance carriers,
    pension administrators, and other external service providers.
  • In collaboration with line managers ensure new employees are on boarded smoothly
    into the organization; develop and implement innovative retention strategies
  • Administer HR related documents such as offer letters, contracts of employment, job
    descriptions, and annual leave and absenteeism records on a regular basis as required.
  • Provide monthly payroll input and ensure accurate and timely processing including
    submission of all relevant regulatory payments.
  • Be a change agent and specifically coordinate the implementation of the company’s
    culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Monitor and ensure statutory compliance of all applicable labour laws and other
    regulatory requirements
  • Maintaining records of injuries, illnesses and workers' compensation; coordinating first
    aid training and the provision of first aid to employees; providing advice to employees
    and the employer in matters of occupational health and safety.
  • Supervise team to ensure that the leave administration is compliant with policy and
    proper management of HR data including staff files
  • Generate accurate and timely HR reports in the required format
  • Manage deployment of the HR Information system and drive uptake of the same

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources from a recognized University, a Master’s degree will be an
    added advantage
  • Professional qualification in human resources e.g. Higher National Diploma or
    equivalent
  • 6 – 8 years’ experience of which 2 should be in a supervisory/management position
  • Proficiency in Human Resource Management Information Systems
  • Member of the Institute of the Human Resource Management
