An officer at this level will be deployed to regions and work under the supervision of a senior officer.
Terms and Conditions of Services
- Basic salary 87,137 – 134,289 PM
- House Allowance as per the region deployed
- Commuter Allowance 8,000 PM
- Leave Allowance 20,000 PA
- Annual Leave 30 working days PA
- Medical Cover and other allowances As provided by the ODPC

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have;
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- Three (3) years’ experience in a relevant field;
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Law, information communication technology, computer science, informatics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution;
- Membership with relevant professional body;
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
- Proficiency in computer
- Experience in data protection is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
- Participating in the oversight of data processing operations and verification on whether processing of data is in accordance with the law
- Receive complaints on infringement of the rights under the Data Protection Act;
- Initiate development of guidelines and carrying out data protection impact assessments;
- Conduct investigations on complaints made by data subjects or third party;
- Initiate advice to data controllers and data processors on mitigation of risks identified through data protection impact assessment;
- Prepare summons to witness for the purposes of investigations and Initiate investigations;
- Maintain up to date complaints database;
- Preparing, collecting and analyzing data, implementation, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on Performance Contract;
- Prepare periodic reports on the status of complaints;
- Oversee administrative activities and supervise staff in respective regions as per the Office’s policies; and
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal Data Protection Officer.
