Job Title: SENIOR DATA PROTECTION OFFICER - REGIONAL OFFICES

Job Description

An officer at this level will be deployed to regions and work under the supervision of a senior officer.

Terms and Conditions of Services

  1. Basic salary   87,137 – 134,289 PM
  2. House Allowance as per the region deployed
  3. Commuter Allowance 8,000 PM
  4. Leave Allowance 20,000 PA
  5. Annual Leave 30 working days PA
  6. Medical Cover and other allowances       As provided by the ODPC
  7. Terms of service Permanent and pensionable
 
Job Specification

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have;

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum mean grade C+ (Plus) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  2. Three (3) years’ experience in a relevant field;
  3. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Law, information communication technology, computer science, informatics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution;
  4. Membership with relevant professional body;
  5. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
  6. Proficiency in computer
  7. Experience in data protection is an added advantage.

 Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  1. Participating in the oversight of data processing operations and verification on whether processing of data is in accordance with the law
  2. Receive complaints on infringement of the rights under the Data Protection Act;
  3. Initiate development of guidelines and carrying out data protection impact assessments;
  4. Conduct investigations on complaints made by data subjects or third party;
  5. Initiate advice to data controllers and data processors on mitigation of risks identified through data protection impact assessment;
  6. Prepare summons to witness for the purposes of investigations and Initiate investigations;
  7. Maintain up to date complaints database;
  8. Preparing, collecting and analyzing data, implementation, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on Performance Contract;
  9. Prepare periodic reports on the status of complaints;
  10. Oversee administrative activities and supervise staff in respective regions as per the Office’s policies; and
  11. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Principal Data Protection Officer.
