Job Title: DATA PROTECTION OFFICER II - REGIONAL OFFICES

Job Description

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under supervision of a senior officer.

Terms and Conditions of Service

  1. Basic Salary                                  Kshs. 62,339 - 78,725 PM
  2. House Allowance                            as per the region deployed
  3. Commuter Allowance                      Kshs. 4,000 PM
  4. Leave Allowance                            Kshs. 15,000 PA
  5. Annual Leave                                 30 working days PA
  6. Medical Cover and other allowances   As provided by the ODPC
  7. Terms of Service                            Permanent and pensionable
 
Job Specification

Requirements for Appointment

     For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C+ (Plus) or its approved equivalent from a recognized institution;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Law, information communication technology, computer science, informatics or an equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution; and
  3. Proficiency in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Specific duties and responsibilities will involve:

  1. Conduct inspections and periodical audits of the processes and systems of the data controllers and data processors;
  2. Prepare draft guidelines and carrying out data protection impact assessments;
  3. Prepare inspection and compliance reports;
  4. Review evidence submitted by data controllers and data processors relating to information; privacy and security safeguards for cross-border data transfers;
  5. Receive and process notifications of data breaches from Data Controllers and Data Processors;
  6. Receive complaints on infringement of the rights under the Data Protection Act;
  7. Conduct investigations on complaints made by data subjects or third party;
  8. Identify systemic issues and recommend remedial measures and proactive action;
  9. Receiving and reviewing applications for registration;
  10. Drafting registration and certification strategies, policies, processes and procedures;
  11. Updating of the register of Data Controllers and Data Processors;
  12. Drafting enforcement notices;
  13. Serving enforcement notices;
  14. Drafting requests for obtaining warrant from the court to enter and search premises;
  15. Drafting penalty notices;
  16. Establish and Maintain up to date complaints database;
  17. Prepare complaints investigation reports; and
  18. Performance any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
