- ABOUT THE PROGRAM
BOMA is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Data Analyst on the newly awarded Livelihoods and Inclusion for Transformation Northern Kenya (LIFT NK) project. LIFT NK will lift more than ten thousand women and youth out of extreme poverty and coach them to establish and grow micro-enterprises that sustainably harvest and manage local natural resources, especially drylands forests. The three-year project (2022-2025) will be implemented in Marsabit, Samburu and Turkana counties and in the Kakuma refugee camp and the Kalobeyei Refugee Settlement.
- JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analyst is responsible for conducting frequent and routine analysis of program data for reporting. The Data Analyst provides real-time feedback to program staff in order to make data-driven decisions and adapt programming accordingly. Under the overall leadership and direction of the LIFT NK Program Director and technical oversight from the Data Manager, and in close collaboration with the technical, program and consortium partner staff, the position holder will be ensuring effective field-level collaboration on the effective use of data in ensuring the LIFT NK project is a success.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1. Conducting analysis of current and historical program data. 4.2. Develop and pre-test data collection tools and incorporate any reviews/amendments to ensure the tool responds to the survey/research being undertaken. 4.3. Develop and maintain a Standard Data Management Manual and oversee its organizational implementation including DQA protocol. 4.4. Development of M&E reporting templates and other Standardized tools to enhance monitoring and reporting. 4.5. Developing/Reviewing of survey manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for existing and new data collection tools. 4.6. Reviewing quality of data sent by enumerators/FOs/M&E Officers and timely reporting to the supervisor on any issues that need to be addressed (Anomalies & irregularities). 4.7. Analyze, compile, process and present data in a structure that can easily be understood. 4.8. Assisting in use of program generated data to identify program gaps and trends to improve quality of delivery and respond to current needs. 4.9. Capacity Building of LIFT NK M&E team and other Field Program Staff on data collection, analysis and management. Also train them on existing M&E analysis and monitoring templates. 4.10. Innovating new ways to visualize data in form of dashboards/charts and in accordance to agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI) a to aid in data for decision making. 4.11. Preparing management and user reports based on outcome of the surveys and donor reports as requested.
5. QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
5.1. Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation or another relevant field. 5.2. At least 2-3 years’ experience working in an NGO setting preferably in livelihood programs. 5.3. Practical experience in use of data analysis and Visualization tools like STATA, SPSS, Power BI, or Tableau. 5.4. Formal M&E training and/or specialized skills in statistics are an advantage. 5.5. Experience in research and surveys - design of tools, data collection, data processing and analysis. 5.6. At least one year of experience conducting data analysis using Stata (skills to be tested during interview). 5.7. Experience cleaning large data sets. 5.8. Naturally curious and analytical; able to sort through extensive data and craft hypotheses. 5.9. Strong writing skills with experience preparing reports and technical documents. 5.10. Hand-on experience on use of data visualization tools (Tableau and Power BI) 5.11. Strong organizational, communication and writing skills. 5.12. Ability to multi-task and adhere to project timeline Excellent analytical and detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in research, surveys, and data management. 5.13. Experience in the arid lands, preferably in East Africa. 5.14. Strong computer skills and very good knowledge in use of applications such as Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint required, while working knowledge of Salesforce and Taroworks would be an advantage. 5.15. Good planning and organizational capacity with demonstrable ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrated ability to multitask.
