Position Title: Qualitative and Quantitative Field Interviewers

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an African-led and Africa based international research institute committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant multidisciplinary research.

Our research addresses important development issues and challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa in areas such as education, population, health, aging, urbanization and wellbeing.

Our goal is to generate evidence for meaningful action, engage with policy makers in the region to disseminate our research findings, influence policy decisions, and improve the quality of life in Africa.

The APHRC invites applications for Qualitative and Quantitative Field Interviewers in a study in Kibera & Mukuru kwa Reuben that aims to reduce diarrheal disease through a two-year pilot phase, working with local and national stakeholders to increase affordable safe water access in schools, healthcare facilities, and households.

Qualitative Field Interviewers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of participants using a set eligibility criteria.
  • Obtain and document informed consent/assent from the study participants prior to the interviews.
  • Conduct interviews on all recruited study participants.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to conduct qualitative interviews in both Kiswahili and English.
  • Ability to moderate discussions and experience in note taking during qualitative discussions.
  • Must be a resident of Kibera.
  • Be available to work full time on the project for the duration of the study

Quantitative Field Interviewers

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of participants using a set eligibility criteria.
  • Obtain and document informed consent/assent from the study participants prior to the interviews.
  • Conduct interviews on all recruited study participants, review collected data to ensure all questions are completed prior to online submission.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have at least a KCSE (C) and above.
  • Ability to conduct quantitative interviews in both Kiswahili and English.
  • Have experience in data collection using electronic data capture methods.
  • Must be a resident of Kibera.
  • Be available to work full time on the project for the duration of the study.
