MongoDB Administrator Job Vacancy in Kenya

Position Title: MongoDB Administrator

They are currently looking for applicants that will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, performance, integrity and security of a number of MongoDB databases.

Duties will include the

  • Design and creation of databases,
  • Planning and maintenance of database configuration,
  • Implementation and enforcement of database security and investigating and resolving database and production system errors.

Key skills will include being able to monitor and tune database performance, establish and manage objective database performance criteria.

With regards to the querying element, you will be expected to establish and manage standards for queries within the system, review queries, server and application error logs and troubleshoot issues.

You will also be expected to establish database security procedures and enforce their application, advice on database design requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Database installation and configuration
  • Database maintenance in terms of patching and upgrades
  • Database performance investigation, tuning and recommendations
  • Data backup and recovery
  • Automation
  • Monitoring of deployment and configuration
  • Resolution of customer requests within allocated priority base timeline
  • Generate audit and user/environment review based reports
  • Generate capacity utilization historical trending and forecasting reports
  • Generate any required adhoc based reports where needed

KPIs

  • Service Desk and SLA fulfilment
  • Maintain and resolve Service Desk tickets as per the designated priority assigned
  • Time logging
  • Ensuring all work log detail and time spent reflects correctly
  • Change control
  • Ensuring OSI change requests are submitted on time
  • Ensuring change work implementation is completed correctly and on time
  • Projects
  • Ensuring project timelines are met
  • Personal Development
  • Ongoing training and certifications to be completed as per Personal Development Plan

Qualifications and Experience

  • Senior Certificate
  • Relevant IT Qualifications (Diploma or Degree)
  • Basic Unix/Linux knowledge advantageous
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases
  • MongoDB certifications advantageous
  • PostgreSQL/MySQL experience or exposure advantageous
