The Accountant will be responsible for the Accounting function.

This includes, but is not limited to, preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, Petty cash management accounts payable, accounts receivable as well as cashflow management, budgeting, cost rationalization, financial management, finance administration, daily revenues, coast reconciliation and stock management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized accounting systems.
  • Managing the Accounts Receivable function to ensure accurate and timely billing as well as collections.
  • Continuous vouching of the entities Trial Balance to correct possible errors and to verify the General Ledger accounts balances at all time.
  • To maintain fixed assets registers and ensure that companies assets are not misused and that their existence is verifiable at all times.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and hotel and restaurant procedures.

  • Closely scrutinize funds transfer and cash disbursement protocols within the organization
  • Maintenance of the Hotel’s / restaurant’s set of controls and budgets to mitigate risk.
  • Computing profits and losses on all food and beverage items onboard, monitoring budgets versus actual, and the variance related to each.
  • Responsible for all quality control on the pier; accounting/receiving control, accounting for any loss or spoilage, and reporting such to the General Manager.
  • Responsible for the supervision of the receiving and loading of all food and beverage stores, and other hotel supplies.
  • Able to prepare and submits management reports in a timely manner and also ensuring delivery deadlines.
  • Responsible for verifying all financial reports and ensuring that all transactions are accurate and in compliance with county and national government regulations.
  • Oversees internal, external and regulatory audit processes.
  • Undertake cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, cost centers and document business transactions.
  • Take responsibility for daily stock takes, spot checks, reconciliation and timely preparation of daily sales reports against expenses.
  • Responsible for verification of income, receivables & debtors’ reconciliation.
  • Preparation of financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
  • Apply cost accounting methods to achieve efficient representation of cost center performance.
  • Responsible for filing of all statutory deductions.
  • Maintain system of accounts and keep records on all company transactions and assets.
  • Reconciliation of daily revenue against ERP generated reports.
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports.

Education & Skills Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with a preference for Second-Class Upper division.
  • A CPA-K holder.
  • MUST have a minimum of 5-7 years’ recent experience as an accountant in Hospitality Industry.
  • Should have a high command of Excel, etc.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems like Quick Bo0oks, SAP, Sage
  • Must possess excellent financial knowledge, analytical skills and be very well organized.
  • Willing to contribute effort to all aspects of hotel/restaurant operation when needed.
  • Willingness to work as an overall team member to help ensure continued growth and success of this top hotel and restaurant
  • Proficient in time management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes.
