Position Title: Tutorial Fellow – International Relations & Diplomacy

Tutorial Fellow – International Relations & Diplomacy

The purpose of this position to design, develop, plan and deliver a programme of teaching to students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully and enable the university to generate income; to develop, carry out and manage research projects to extend knowledge of the relevant subject area; to provide service to the community and the professions; to translate knowledge into practice; to write or publish books or other creative works and to offer clinical services as a senior consultant depending on the discipline.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Department the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
- To teach as a member of a teaching team within an established programme of study.
- Transferring knowledge including practical skills, methods and techniques.
- Supervising students during field trips, attachments, etc.
- Using a range of delivery techniques to inspire and engage students.
- Identifying learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
- Conducting individual and collaborative research projects.
- To write up research work for publication.
- Seeking practical application of research findings
- Serving in various committees to infuse professionalism in running of affairs.
- To lecture in the area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus.
Qualification Requirements
- A Master’s degree in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations or any other relevant field qualification from a recognized/accredited university in the relevant field;
- At least (3) years post qualification teaching experience; and or
- Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral level qualification;
- Demonstrated potential for university teaching and research.;
- Approved professional qualifications completed can be considered under special cases where the bachelor’s degree is not from a related field.
