Job Profile
Job Title: Stock Controller
Department / Section: Mukuru Field Office
Reports to: Emergency Coordinator – MUCHEP
Duty Station: Mukuru
Duration: 1 year Project

Job Summary:

Purpose: The main purpose of this position is to keep inventory of project commodities and oversee the safe storage of items procured for emergency response under the Mukuru Child Empowerment Project (MUCHEP).

MUCHEP is a 1-year project targeting children 10 – 20yrs old in and out of school with the majority being in school.

The project is working with 10 community schools within Mukuru Kwa Njenga informal settlement to reach 2846 learners with a school meals program; sanitary kits for children of reproductive age; critical learning materials and hygiene facilities for COVID-19 prevention.

The overall goal of the project is to improve health and quality education of children in Mukuru Informal Settlement.

The person in this role will work closely with the project team to ensure timely stocking, distribution ad restocking of project commodities.

Key Roles

  • Manage a detailed stock inventory
  • Analyse supply chain dates and records to ensure stock availability.
  • Evaluating vendors and supply offers and negotiating profitable purchase/buying prices.
  • In close consultation with the Emergency Coordinator (EC), place timely purchase orders/requisitions for consumables required for the school meals program; sanitary kits for girls and other project items used for emergency response.
  • Receive deliveries.
  • Oversee stock storage processes including tagging, boxing and labelling.
  • Together with the EC maintain a steady flow of procured commodities from storage to where it is needed.
  • Monthly stock taking and reconciliation i.e. reconciling delivery notes with purchase orders, stock in and stock out etc.
  • Keep and update record of current market prices for key items that are regularly procured by the project.
  • Coordinate stock control operations with the EC and the finance/logistics department.
  • Daily general upkeep of storage space, cleaning, arranging shelves and organization of commodities in storage in a way that is safe and minimizes spoilage.
  • Report on any incidences regarding safety and security of the project commodities.
  • Develop inventory reports as may be required from time to time to inform programming.

Qualification and Experience

  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management, Inventory Management, Logistics, Stores Management or any other related field.
  • In-depth knowledge on inventory management principles and practices.
  • At least 1year experience as a stock controller.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Negotiation, Collaboration and communication skills.
  • Great Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven credibility, integrity and professionalism
  • Exercises sound judgment and political sensitivity – especially in relation to the informal settlement community organization.
  • Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ.
