Position Title: Medical Physicist
Responsible To: Head of Department
Accountable To: Management
Job Purpose: To be responsible for managing and coordinating medical physics services in accordance with the policies of the Cancer Care Kenya Limited.
This involves ensuring provision maintenance and development of all aspects of the service in liaison with the Head of Department to ensure the equipment are highest quality radiation delivery to patients using the available resources.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all Radiation safety norms /rules /regulation are adhered to as per set protocols.
- Ensure the maintenance of all radiation equipment is adhered
- Make sure the radioactive materials are stored / disposed of as per the norms of regulatory authority
- Ensure adherence to established departmental quality assurance practices
- Ensure all established ionizing/nonionizing radiations obligations (legal or non-legal) as provided as prescribed by regulatory authorities are observed within all departmental practices
- Carry out safety audits periodically for all radiation facilities of the institutions.
- Ensure Safety of patients and personnel from radiation stand point
- Ensure achievement of optimum Radiation treatment plan for precision in treatment delivery and ensure planning protocols are adhered to in clinical practice,
- Maintain appropriate records of services rendered
- Performing machine calibrations as may be required
