The purpose of the Position

The Child and Youth Care (CYC) practitioners Digital Learning Hub is a new global project in SOS Children´s Villages that aims to provide learning and development opportunities to child and youth care practitioners around the globe, supported through innovative digital tools.

The project aims to be implemented in more than 50 countries worldwide reaching around 10,000 CYC practitioners, who are the people directly supporting children and youth in alternative care and vulnerable families in the community.

Closely supported by the co-team leader of the Youth & ICT4D department and the regional office of Eastern and Southern Africa (ESAF), the Project Manager will be responsible of the leadership of the Digital Learning unit. This unit will be in charge of further developing a chatbot based on artificial intelligence and coordinate its roll out in around 50 countries, as well as roll out SOS Influencer, a Wikipedia based platform to compile content around the organisation to support learning of CYC.

The project manager will also be in charge of the monitoring and evaluation of the tools through implementation of a results based management approach, compilation of best practices and learnings,: definition of an operating model to make the hub sustainable, , implement project management mechanisms including quarterly reports to the donor and management of budget, She/he will work closely with network of Programmes Development and ICT Teams in the international headquarter and the other regions.

To implement these tasks, SOS Children’s Villages International is looking for an experienced project manager with track experience in digital learning projects, interested in driving a new global project and taking new challenges especially with energy and drive to get things done.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a global project with a scope of more than 50 countries globally focussed in providing quality digital tools and digital content to child and youth care practitioners around the globe.
  • Strongly align with the global department of learning and development and work closely so the digital tools and content support the L&D strategy of the organisation.
  • Management of multi-stakeholders internationally in order to position the project strategically.
  • Actively participate in fundraising and donors meeting to secure further funding of the project
  • Ensure quality, timely and within budget / resources implementation of the project in a quick and agile way.
  • Define an operating model which will define how the whole hub and processes will work, in partnership with the regional offices and other stakeholders at the international office and supporting associations
  • Develop and follow on results based management approach the project progress and achievement of outcomes and outputs.
  • Establish a sustainability model – based also in income generation- to ensure project can be sustained over time by providing services to different countries.
  • Coordinate the roll out of digital learning platforms (Chatbot and Wikipedia Like) together with Programmes Development and ICT teams.
  • Research, assess and propose the development of new innovative learning tools.
  • Follow the implementation plan and establish corrective actions when needed
  • Responsible for the project’s budget management
  • Produce communication and marketing materials which support project fundraising efforts
  • Compile good practices of the digital tools implementation across the organisation and systematize its sharing.
  • Produce quarterly progress reports and present them to the donor/s

Requirements;

  • University degree and academic training in a field related to project management, international development, learning and development, ICT4D or related fields.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in setting up and managing digital learning projects.
  • Experience in programme and project management of global projects.
  • Experience in digital programs / ICT4D not only a project level, but at strategic level in an organisation.
  • Experience in defining and implementing digital learning approaches at multi country and multi region scale.
  • Strong international high level stakeholder management, donor communication and reporting skills, including development of attractive communication materials.
  • Track experience in project management and budget management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills. Spanish and/or French language skills are considered an asset.
