Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working as an analyst or another analytical role.
  • Experience with analyzing data, creating reports, quantitative modeling, data vizualisation, and forecasting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA degree.
  • Experience in management consulting.
  • Experience partnering effectively on cross-functional projects or teams.
  • Experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to work strategically, think structurally, and articulate concepts and business models for Africa’s emerging markets to a global cross-functional team.

Help serve Google's worldwide user base of more than a billion people. Product Analysts provide quantitative support, market understanding and a strategic perspective to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.

Build for Africa (BfA) is a company-wide initiative within the Next Billion User (NBU) business area. Our mission is to build a more helpful Google for our users in Africa. Our team develops programming in support of the Product teams’ go-to-market strategy and drives accountability for multi-year impact. Our roles include components of strategy, analytics, operations, and communications. We bring solid business sense and sound judgment to help Google build amazing products and programs that delight our users in Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities, and develop insightful recommendations on strategic direction and specific project opportunities. Perform the related analysis and research of technical and business issues.
  • Build models and perform analysis to support the business, including financial models, market/industry models, and operational analytics.
  • Build consensus among cross-functional teams and influence decision-making within executive-level audiences. Lead execution against recommendations quickly and with flawless accuracy.
  • Manage the execution of cross-functional and cross-business area projects, including gathering requirements from stakeholders, building work plans, identifying and prioritizing resources needed, and ensuring the delivery of milestones.
  • Develop cross-business area Next Billion Users insights by performing in-depth analyses on market dynamics, technology trends, user behavior, and landscape that could help drive cross-business area product strategy.
