Career Opportunity: Assistant Manager – Reinsurance
Reports To: Underwriting Manager
Job Purpose: Responsible for processing and negotiating treaty renewals for both General and Life and liaising with treaty leaders and documenting the agreed terms on treaties with reinsurers.
Dealing with routine treaty and facultative administration matters and account queries from reinsurers.
Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- Review all risk acceptances to ensure they are protected by proper reinsurance arrangement.
- Placement of facultative out business and ensuring we seek for facultative in business.
- Preparing each year reinsurance renewal programme and circulating to claims, underwriting, marketing and finance.
- Preparing treaty accounts i.e. quarterly accounts, premium adjustment, portfolio accounts and profit commission.
- Processing of recoveries from reinsurers both facultative and excess of loss.
- Dealing with routine treaty and facultative administration matters and account queries from reinsurers.
- Ensure reinsurance trainings are done within the department and the relevant departments.
- Ensure risks surveys are done within the required set timelines by the company to avoid exposure.
- Identify reconciliation items on both treaty and facultative accounts and liaise with finance and credit control departments to ensure reconciliation is done.
- Prepare and file quarterly reinsurance returns.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in business related course (Insurance & Risk Management option, Marketing, Business Administration and Finance) or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Diploma in Insurance (Dip CII/AIIK) or Proficiency in Short Term Reinsurance Practice (Zep Re Academy).
- 5 years relevant experience with at least 2 years in Reinsurance Supervisory Level.
