Position Title: School Human Resource Manager

Our Client, is a Primary and Secondary School with both boarding and day scholars situated in the outskirts of Nairobi. As a leading educational institution, who believes that a supportive and empowering work environment is essential for fostering excellence, the client is seeking a dedicated and dynamic School Human Resource Manager.

The Position: The School Human Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of human resources within an educational institution. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with the school's goals and values.

The School HR Manager plays a crucial role in attracting, retaining, and developing a high-performing and diverse workforce, while ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.

This role requires a blend of HR expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within the educational institution.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management:

  • Prepare payroll and ensuring compliance with all statutory laws and tax obligations.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records and seek approval for the payroll payment schedules.

Recruitment and Selection:

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for various positions within the school.
  • Coordinate job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and selection processes.
  • Collaborate with department heads and administrators to identify staffing needs and plan for future hiring.

Employee Onboarding and Orientation:

  • Facilitate new employee onboarding, ensuring they have the necessary information, resources, and training to integrate smoothly into the school community.
  • Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize new hires with the school's mission, policies, and procedures.

Employee Development:

  • Identify training and professional development opportunities for staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Implement performance improvement plans and offer guidance for career growth.

Employee Relations:

  • Address employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances in a fair and objective manner, working to resolve issues and maintain a harmonious work environment.
  • Promote open communication between staff and administration to foster a positive culture.

Policy Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and update HR policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with educational and legal requirements.
  • Communicate policies to staff and ensure adherence to them.

Administration and Employee’s Welfare:

  • Manage employee benefit and wellness programs, leave plans per the school policies.
  • Ensure compliance in all administration process of the school and employee welfare
  • Ensure the school facility is well maintained and for the safety of all occupiers.

Performance Management:

  • Coordinate performance evaluation processes to assess employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to establish performance goals and expectations.

Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, attendance, and performance evaluations.
  • Generate reports for administration as needed.

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with trends and developments in human resources management and education to enhance the effectiveness of HR practices in the school.

Qualifications:

  • At least Seven years of experience in HR practice, preferably in a school or educational institution
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant HR certification (CHRPK or Higher National diploma in Human Resource) is an added advantage.
  • Payroll Accounting or CPA background is an added advantage
  • Member of Institute of Human Resources Management.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in HR software and tools for record-keeping and data analysis.
  • HR Practicing certificate
