BACKGROUND

IsraAID is an Israel-based non-governmental organization that was founded in 2001 and has since its inception worked in emergency and long-term development settings in over 55 countries. IsraAID’s mission is to support people affected by humanitarian crises by partnering with local communities around the world to provide urgent aid, assist recovery, and reduce the risk of future disasters.

JOB PURPOSE

The objective of this role is to provide support to the WASH Team across various elements of WASH infrastructure; encompassing design, construction monitoring, quality control, program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The incumbent will report to the Programme Manager WASH.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Implementation

  • Support the Programmes Manager - WASH and Project Officer-WASH in the coordination of the WASH Technical activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
  • Assist the WASH Team in the development of technical guidelines and tools.
  • Conduct daily technical supervision on ongoing borehole drilling.
  • Work closely with the WASH Team to promote timely planning and implementation of all WASH field activities as planned.
  • Provide full support to WASH Team in maintaining regular contact with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in the compilation of periodic WASH Technical reports, program documents, activities, forecast and expenditures.
  • Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the WASH activities.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Work with the Project Officer - WASH to ensure appropriate, timely and accurate data collection against agreed indicators to enable both internal and external reporting
  • Lead discussions with communities and beneficiaries on program design and project review
  • Conduct periodic reviews and report to the WASH Team on any obstacles and recommend mitigation measures.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water/Environmental Engineering or other relevant fields
  • Minimum 1 year progressive experience in the WASH sector with an INGO and/or UN agency
  • Previous experience in supervising drilling and construction activities is an added advantage.

SKILLS

  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a pressured work environment with frequent critical deadlines.
  • Proficient in negotiation skills
  • Attention to details and good numeric accuracy.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team .
