Group Life Claims Manager Job Vacancy in Kenya

We are recruiting a Group Life Claims Manager required by a well-established insurance company in Kenya.

Overall Responsibility: Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the group life claims function and aligning its operations with the company’s strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all claims are properly documented and reviewed to ensure that they are processed in accordance with policy guidelines.
  • Regularly review the adequacy of claims reserves.
  • Monitor claims experience trends and make recommendations to the underwriting department on relevant risk improvement measures.
  • Maintain profitable relationships with third parties among service providers.
  • As per the Customer Service Charter, attend to customers and handle inquiries and complaints.
  • Submit monthly reinsurance recovery reports and document claims for reinsurance recovery.
  • Compile monthly claims reports for the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
  • Effectively supervise department staff to ensure that their day-to-day responsibilities align with the company’s strategic direction.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, or a business-related field, as well as ACII or Dip IIK
  • At least 5 years of experience in Group Life Claims Management, 3 of which should be in mid-level management or above.
  • Technical knowledge of insurance operations, industry trends, and the regulatory framework,
  • Good communication, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to demonstrate teamwork, and work in a busy, dynamic as well as deadline-driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and at least one insurance management software
