Position Title: Senior Communications and Administrative Officer (Kenya National Position)

The Regional Office is responsible for the oversight of CARE's operations in the region as well as the provision of support to country offices in the region.

Role Profile
The Innovation team supports CARE in identifying new solutions and ways to address identified gaps in reaching CARE’s Vision 2030, increase impact, and dramatically accelerate scale. We apply International Development Innovation Alliance's (IDIA's) six-stage rigorous decision process for innovation and scaling, and bring capabilities in design thinking, rapid feedback loops and validation.
The primary function of this role is to provide communications, knowledge management, and administrative support to the innovation team. S/he will report to the Senior Director, Innovation and work closely with the rest of the innovation team and other Impact and Innovation department colleagues.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be exceptionally organized. They should have a demonstrated ability to take direction and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively as needed. They will also be a flexible member of the team, as work can pivot and deadlines can shift with short notice.
1. Communications and Knowledge Management - 70%
- Develop and execute the Innovation team's communications strategy
- Build the team's communications and digital presence: maintain the team’s internal platforms (SharePoint, CARE Shares, Teams) and external platforms (social media, webinars)
- Lead design and production of communications materials (learning briefs, field reports, donor reports etc.)
- Gather, manage, and share content and insights for teams to access in a centralized hub
- Craft funding proposals and develop pitch materials in a clear and compelling manner
2. Administrative Support - 20%
- Schedule team meetings and workshops
- Organize and manage team retreats and other events, including team travel arrangements, agenda creation, and vendor procurement
- Create clear organizational systems that can be accessed and understood by the Innovation team
- Coordinate travel logistics, prepare and submit invoices, travel requests, expense reports etc. for the Innovation Senior Director
3. Procurement - 10%
- Understand and adhere to CARE's procurement policies and procedures within CARE USA and country and regional offices. When needed, train team members on these policies and procedures
- Work closely with the Impact and Innovation Administrative Assistant where needed to procure consultants, vendors and partners, including preparing Terms of Reference (TORs) and contracts
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
- Demonstrated successful experience (3 years minimum) as a communications professional
- Demonstrated strong written communication skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience as an executive assistant in an international environment
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and coordination skills
- Tech-savvy, with advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and SharePoint
- Understands best practices of main social media channels
- Ability to shift easily between strategic initiatives and tactical day-to-day responsibilities
- Excellent oral and written English skills
- Experience in the non-profit sector
Desired:
- French and/or Spanish language is a plus
- Website content development and management
- Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator
