KCCB Technical Advisor Pediatrics (Adolescents and OVC) Job Vacancy in Kenya

KCCB is seeking candidates to fill the position of Technical Advisor Pediatrics, Adolescents and OVC.

The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) – General Secretariat is the national administrative, facilitative and coordinative arm through which KCCB undertakes all responsibilities which express the KCCB mission in Kenya.

KCCB is the prime recipient of a grant entitled KCCB-ACTS (Accelerate, Transition, Sustain) awarded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

KCCB-ACTS/9/2022/16 – TECHNICAL ADVISOR PEDIATRICS, ADOLESCENTS AND OVC

JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor, this role is responsible for providing ongoing technical support in the implementation of high quality OVC, pediatric and adolescent HIV prevention, care and treatment services across all KCCB ACTS supported sites.

This position will ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities based on current scientific evidence and national/donor guidelines. She will work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), site teams and KCCB ACTS staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Providing technical support in the development and implementation of work plans.

2. Providing program-wide technical support in the design and implementation of paediatric and adolescent HIV programs, including training, mentorship and didactic learning.

3. Capacity building of clinical teams on paediatric and adolescent matters through CMEs, mentorship and dissemination of new knowledge.

4. Liaising with MOH teams and other stakeholders in the implementation of paediatric and adolescent program activities in line with Donor and Ministry of Health guidelines and priorities.

5. Initiate and strengthen interventions for co-occurring diseases impacting HIV-infected paediatric and adolescent patients including TB.

6. Take part in drafting KCCB ACTS quarterly and annual reports and other written materials such as lessons learned, case studies and other materials as required.

7. Development of job aids, tools and materials as needed including CMEs for use at facility level to support health care workers to provide paediatric and adolescent HIV services.

8. Assisting in program monitoring and evaluation and use of data to inform program planning and continuous improvement as well as research as needed.

9. Represent ACTS in various forums including technical working groups.

10. Promoting innovative evidence-based programming in paediatric and adolescent activities across all KCCB ACTS sites.

11. Provide regular feedback to senior technical managers, program and technical staff, on successes, challenges and lessons learned in implementation related to areas of technical expertise.

12. Author and co-author abstracts and presentations for journals and conferences.

13. Any other duties that may be reasonably assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills

1. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) / Nursing from a recognized College/University

2. Minimum of three years working experience in development programs with significant TA experience in public health programs; HIV/AIDS program experience preferred

3. Working experience in donor funded public health program is an added advantage.

4. Demonstrable knowledge of HIV/ART management, diagnosis and treatment procedures of conditions associated with HIV and direct service delivery.

5. Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding HIV infection.

6. Ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain relationships with project staff, donors, other partners and site teams.

7. Ability to identify problems, design interventions and oversee their implementation.

8. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
