Position Title: Operations Auditor

Job Summary: Provides support services to the Head of Audit, Risk and Compliance. This involves data collection, compilation and preparation of routine reports, and conducting audits in line with the approved audit plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide input to the internal audit strategic plan and the annual risk-based audit plan, determine the audit approach and prepare the audit program.
  • Survey functions and activities in assigned audit areas to determine the nature of operations and the adequacy of internal control systems and procedures, and conduct the audit professionally,
  • Develop and organize the audit working papers,
  • Examine and assess the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls in Sacco operations,
  • Discuss audit findings with the auditee and agree on appropriate corrective/preventive measures.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and timeliness of management responses to internal audit reports on a regular basis.
  • Monitor budget implementation to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and to identify areas of concern for corrective/preventive measures.
  • Update and maintain audit issue tracker and follow-up to ensure timely closure of issues;
  • Review policies and procedure manuals on a regular basis to ensure compliance, completeness, and the soundness of business processes,
  • Follow up on closure of external audit recommendations,
  • Identifying revenue opportunities, cost recovery and cost avoidance opportunities;
  • Conduct special investigations of fraud and customer complaints, or other related audit tasks as agreed with the Head, Internal Audit Risk & Compliance.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • A Business-Related Degree from a recognized university.
  • Professional Qualification: CPA (K), CIA, CISA
  • 3 years of experience in a similar position in a financial institution
  • Excellent report writing, oral communication, logical and analytical skills;
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer-assisted audit techniques and data analytics
  • Effective planning, organizing and problem-solving skills.
  • Initiative and self-drive
