Position Title: Quality Control Administrator (Manufacturing)

Location: Thika, Kiambu county

Reports to: Production Manager

Our client, a bread manufacturing and supply company, is hiring an experienced Quality Control Administrator to join their team.

Job Summary: Responsible for planning, coordinating and managing overall quality programs for the company to yield consistently high quality food products and ensuring compliance to regulatory/statutory requirements of the same.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality control strategy and guidelines to ensure that products are manufactured to the required quality standard
  • Develop and maintain standards/SOPs/formats/log books, tests, etc. that relate to various operational activities and products.
  • Set up a laboratory and quality assurance (QA) manual.
  • Develop and maintain systems to measure performance against established standards.
  • Implementation of a quality management system (QMS) and auditing of such systems.
  • Organize and file manuals of various international and national standards as well as technical literature /products specifications relevant to our products and raw materials for quick reference.
  • Ensure timely calibration and certification of all testing equipment by certified agencies.
  • Monitor quality performance for conformance to the set standards: take necessary remedial action/s on observed quality deviations – communicate/advise/assist concerned production units.
  • Monitor the quantity of defective products, down-grades and waste are kept to a minimum level as set and agreed by the production standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to specified weight tolerances on finished products.
  • Establish and implement necessary effective communication strategy for the improvement and awareness of quality aspects across all departments.
  • Have an overall responsibility for periodic quality inspection of ALL ingredients and raw materials used in the production process.
  • Prepare accurate reports on quality performance to provide management with relevant information within agreed formats and timelines.
  • Inspect pest infestation and rodent activity in the factory according to the plan or whenever needed and take necessary action.
  • Effective supervision of production processes to ensure quality production all the time and timely communication and follow up for process corrections/improvements.
  • Work in conjunction with the Health & Safety Officer to achieve the highest quality standards of product.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Degree in Food Science / Technology, Chemistry or its equivalent
  • Certificate Training on QMS/Food Systems Audit
  • Minimum 4 years preferably in food/feeds/other FMCG production environment
  • Exposure to QMS and Food systems auditing
  • Implementation of quality assurance programs in store manufacturing and disposal process controls
  • Knowledge and experience in GMP, Food Hygiene standards & Quality Management systems e.g. ISO, HACCP
  • Proven success as a Quality controller or relevant role in food industry
