Position Title: Project Associate

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Associate - Demand Creation, Vegetables for All in supports implementation processes by partners and ensures accountability of the project. This role will be offered on a 2 years' fixed-term contract, subject to availability of funding. You will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

About GAIN

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Demand Creation Associate will provide technical expertise to create and sustain consumer demand for nutritious foods. The Associate will contribute to the design and implementation strategy of this project and will be responsible for innovative customer facing marketing activities to improve desirability, purchase, and consumption of nutritious and safe vegetables.

Key Responsibilities include;

  • Assessing vegetables marketing opportunities and developing or revising market expansion strategy with partners
  • Identifying effective and efficient promotion activities in collaboration with GAIN team, civil society, government, and private sector, and facilitate the implementation of such activities
  • Facilitating the development of communication materials, social marketing, and communication campaigns in collaboration with partners
  • Participating and contributing to development and implementation of project work plans
  • Collecting, documenting, collating and analysing project data for monitoring and management information purposes
  • Providing support for the timely submission of high-quality reports, success stories and other documents as per organizational procedure and donor requirements
  • Identifying any potential issues or risks that could affect the progression of the project. Working with the Project Manager to identify potential solutions

About You

The ideal candidate should have proven experience in marketing or advertising with focus on consumer-facing advertising, brands and/or retail and distribution strategies. Candidate with experience in food sales and activation, trade marketing and public/private partnership environment is highly desirable.

The postholder should have excellent command of written and spoken English and Swahili and proven ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment. You should have the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure with deadlines as well as highly flexible and willing to travel to field sites frequently.

You should have knowledge of traditional and digital advertising trends in Kenya. Candidate should have education background in Business Management (Sales and Marketing), Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing option) or related fields.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from KES 2,083,128 – KES 2,377,296 per annum, depending on experience.

GAIN has a fair and competitive salary structure that allows for annual progression subject to good performance.
