Kanyimbo Hospital Ltd (KHL) is a privately incorporated company, registered in 2020 and located within the Kisii municipality.

It is a 52-bed multi-specialty hospital, aiming at delivering community-centric value-add, advanced, and super-specialized medical services.

We are currently seeking for qualified and dedicated candidates to fill the following positions; 

Job Title: Pharmacy In-Charge

Positions: 1

Main Responsibility: The Pharmacy in Charge will be responsible for the daily operations of the pharmacy ensuring effective implementation of protocols, standards, procedures, rules, and regulations that are consistent with the Pharmacy & Poisons Board guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and ensure standard procedures are adhered to in order to maintain quality in the delivery of pharmaceutical services.
  • Update the formulary of drugs and supplies in collaboration with clinical staff and Ministry protocols to meet hospital needs.
  • Compile and analyze consumption data to identify patterns of drug usage on a monthly basis to verify drug stock versus usage.
  • Ensure that drugs are ordered and delivered on time and maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine stock levels; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
  • Ensure all dispensed medication is correctly billed to capture revenue.
  • Work with Head Clinician to determine drug needs on a regular basis and monitor stock levels of essential drugs, and manage/rotate stock to minimize expiry.
  • Prepare purchase orders for the procurement of necessary medications, equipment, and supplies from vendors and suppliers.
  • Prepare and compile internal & external reports as required by the management and government agencies.
  • Ensure that pharmacy equipment is kept in good working condition.
  • Ensure prevention of medication errors during dispensing by counter-checking and verifying the prescription on doses, allergies, patient identification, right drug, legibility, and giving clear usage instructions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of invoices into the hospital management system.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary facility management committees.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered and licensed by the Pharmacy & Poisons Board.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in a busy hospital pharmacy.
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills.
