POSITION TITLE: CLINICAL OFFICER (1 POST)

DUTY STATION: DIOCESE OF LODWAR REPORTS
TO: FACILITY IN-CHARGE

JOB PROFILE 

The job holder will offer quality care to all patients in the Dispensary and work closely with the health care team to deliver superior patient services. The post holder will report to Facility in-charge. Duties and Responsibilities.

  1. Take a comprehensive patient history and screening at facility and outreach level.
  2. Perform examination, diagnosis and treatment and follow up of patients at health facility and community level.
  3. Ensure effective supervision of other clinical staffs at the health facility
  4. Ensure that routine health facility data is accurate and consistent and timely submission to health information department at the Diocese and MoH Level.
  5. Properly document patients in patient booklet and files besides timely referrals of cases.
  6. Overall responsibility for the daily clinical assessment and prescription of treatment for all clients; inpatient, outpatient attending and clients on CCC clinic.
  7. Enroll all linked positive clients to CCC and ensure referrals for those who opt out, timely Initiation of CTX and appropriate ART according to the current national guidelines, offer initial and routine booster adherence counselling sessions and document and initiate ALL HIV positive clients on appropriate ART regimen according to the current guidelines.
  8. Link all HIV positive clients to the peer educators for psychological support, provide day to day mentorship to other staff and students to improve overall HIV care and treatment services at the posted facility.
  9. Support the implementation of Kenya National Guidelines and other relevant guidelines relating to overall patient care including HIV care and treatment.
  10. Counselling the HIV positive clients on importance of partner and family testing and disclosure, Counseling and referring CCC clients for appropriate reproductivehealthservices breast and cervical cancer screening.
  11. Carry out pregnancy intention assessment for all the CCC clients and counsellingonFamily planning options.
  12. Carry out TB screening using ICF card, initiate eligible clients on IPT and refer those who screen positive for Gene-xpert and document them in the presumptive TB register.
  13. Lead continuous quality improvement activities at the facility and coordinate weekly/bi-weekly MDTs, WITs, CMEs at the health facility.
  14. Work as a team with staff member of other cadre in ensuring quality service provision.
  15. Preparation of all clinical reports i.e. MOH7311, FMARPS, FCDRR and Cohorts
  16. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor especially supporting other departments.

Key skills, Qualifications and Experience. 

  1. At least a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery in a recognized institution. 
  2. A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a busy Comprehensive Care Clinic setup
  3. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  5. Ability to work independently, under pressure while adhering to strict deadlines. 
  6. Unquestionable integrity ad trustworthy. 
  7. Must posses a valid practicing certificate.
