Position Title: Health & Safety Officer

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations;
  • Conduct equipment inspection to ensure they are correctly installed and operational;
  • Facilitate and schedule repairs of unsafe or damaged equipment;
  • Organize safety training to educate company staff on necessary safety principles;
  • Develop and implement safety, procedures, and policies;
  • Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incident or other unsafe working conditions;
  • Oversee the placement and setup of safety signs to warn of potential hazard;
  • Prepare and present to company management periodic report of safety operations;
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agents and investigators to address cases of workplace accident;
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk of operational hazard;
  • Review company operational processes to ensure they are in line with external safety legislations;
  • Ensure that emergency preparedness and response plans are developed, documented, implemented and tested
  • Attend occupational safety and health seminars to update job knowledge and enhance their skills.

Qualifications, Experience, and knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree with professional qualifications in ESMS or related International Standards;
  • At least 3 – 5 years of corporate experience;
  • NEBOSH qualification or other equivalent certification;
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage;
  • Experience implementing OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) programs, managing emergency response incidents, implementing corrective actions, conducting or leading training in applicable OSHA areas and evaluating programs, issuing recommendations, etc;
  • Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
  • Good training and communication skills;
  • Fluent in the English language;
  • Independent, reliable, and flexible.
