Ndumberi Dairy Farmers Co-operative Society Ltd wishes to recruit a Chief Accountant.
The Officer will be based in Kiambu’s Ndumberi Township.
Reporting to the Manager, the Chief Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that sound accounting principles and controls are applied to all financial transactions in Society and safeguard the financial assets in line with the laid down procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth operation of the Accounts department on a daily basis.
- Ensure the classification, recording, and posting of accounting transactions to the general ledger, as well as their reconciliation.
- Carrying out bank reconciliations,
- Prepare, consolidate and harmonize the organization’s annual budget.
- Oversee and facilitate external and internal audit processes, as well as ensure that recommendations are implemented.
- Prepare and present management accounts (balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow reports, and other reports) on a monthly basis.
- Preparation of society’s economic reports and approving society payments.
- Calculation of milk payment rate, accounting and overseeing members’ milk payments.
- Reconciliation and follow-up of external debtors and creditors.
- Prepare and present management accounts (balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow reports, and other reports) on a monthly basis.
- Ensure taxes are properly calculated, accrued, and paid within the stipulated time
- Evaluating society’s internal controls for adequacy and recommending their review.
- Prepare special financial reports as may be required from time to time.
- Preparation of monthly financial board papers and appropriate advising of the Board.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Finance, Accounting, Economics). A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and ICPAK member.
- 5 years of similar work experience in a comparable institution,
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a team player
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and working knowledge of accounting packages
- Excellent understanding of accounting and reporting standards and procedures, and
- Experience with the preparation and analysis of financial statements
