inSupply Health is headquartered in Nairobi, with an office in Dar es Salaam and is affiliated with JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI). Our team of dynamic local consultants works closely with public and private sector clients to design optimized, responsive and resilient supply chain systems that deliver essential health products such as antimalarial and HIV medications, vaccines and contraceptives in complex settings. We pioneer innovative approaches by taking proven methodologies from the commercial sector to adapt them for the context, but also co-create solutions with our clients so they can own, implement and continuously improve their systems independently in the long term.

Overview:

inSupply is searching for a Senior Analyst-Data, based in Nairobi and willing to travel in the region. The candidate will play a strong technical role in implementing and supporting projects, help to generate new business for the organization, manage teams, client and partner relationships, and provide management and administrative support as required. S/he will work under the direction and supervision of the inSupply Health CEO or designee. Our ideal candidate will be a flexible and adaptive thinker who is self-driven and self-managing, team oriented with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and partnerships, and who seeks robust, creative solutions to problems. S/he has a strong background in data, information systems and analysis, demonstrated implementation experience with a strong preference for program and public sector experience, and places users at the center of designed solutions.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work independently to produce quality deliverables, manage workplans, teams and clients, serving in a variety of roles as required by new and existing projects. Roles may vary widely and range from strongly technical to coordination and management. Senior Analysts play multiple roles simultaneously depending on inSupply’s project portfolio and needs.

  • Play a lead role in using data to inform all aspects of program implementation including to develop and implement solutions, improvement plans and in completing or conducting quality assurance for deliverables as necessary.

  • Excel in conceiving of how data, if analyzed or visualized to meet user needs, can promote actions, better decisions and improved implementation and impact. Lead and oversee team members to analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data and visualize the same to communicate to different audiences.

  • Oversee and support data collection, regular data review and analysis of project and program monitoring indicators and adaptive learning sessions. Demonstrate a data curious mindset to continuously develop new or improve existing analytics to enhance data use and management for inSupply and our clients and partners.

  • Work collaboratively, influence and build relationships with clients and partners, including government institutions, non-governmental organizations, donors, and others to embed data use and evidence as a core methodology and approach for understanding the problem and driving actions, decisions and solution development.

  • Participate in routine technical calls and meetings with the team. Proactively and regularly communicate and coordinate with team members on progress of project activities and provide detailed notes of all key stakeholder meetings. Communicate and disseminate information and reports to relevant stakeholders on a regular basis. Monitor and ensure accountability for timely completion of deliverables.

  • Commit to and foster a work culture to foster innovation and continuous improvement, including integrating HCD, QI, adaptive learning and other relevant approaches to test and refine existing tools, methodologies and strategies to guide our supply chain strengthening and improvement efforts.

  • Provide mentorship and coaching of peers and other staff.

  • Apply creative approaches to partner and client engagement and support to help establish a customer/client-oriented reputation and brand.

  • Serve as a representative of inSupply Health, including participation in working groups and provide key linkage with partners on the ground to ensure support and sustainability. Give and attend debriefings and seminars as a project representative, participate in conferences, report on key information to other project staff members.

  • Provide support to new business development efforts and proposals through:

    • Gathering, interpreting and synthesizing relevant data
    • Investigating problems, finding root causes, and developing solutions
    • Generating reports for internal and external partners
    • Exploring and adapting visuals and analytics to support all projects
  • Support generation of data, analytics, visuals as part of documentation of success stories, lessons learned and publications.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the inSupply brand and progressively master skills and characteristics intrinsic to our culture.

  • Travel within the country of posting and the region to guide and support implementation of the project and organizational objectives.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Public Health, ICT, or a health related field, a master’s degree is an added advantage

Experience:

  • At least seven years of work experience in global health, or development, with a minimum of three years working in health systems.
  • Experience building relationships with the Ministry of Health in Kenya required.
  • Experience with the international donor community, including bilateral and multilateral donor agencies and private foundations.
  • Specific expertise in health and/or logistics management information systems, implementation of digital health solutions, and/or design and support of data use and data review approaches is strongly desirable and candidates with this experience will be given preference
  • Quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with mining, analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.
  • Experience in working with mobile health (mHealth) tools such as ODK, Ona, Kobocollect, Survey CTO.
  • A proven ability to work as a part of a team but be self-managing of own time and results, and to be a proactive and clear communicator.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team, to be flexible, adaptable, creative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills (both analytical and problem solving).
  • Ability to travel 40%-50% time, in Kenya, regionally, and internationally.
  • Ability to work comfortably in the MS Office package, Google suite, and other softwares and technology tools.
  • Fluent in English.

Preferred and Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience building partnerships is highly desirable. Experience working in counties or other countries in the region is highly desirable.
  • Experience in using statistical softwares such as SPSS, STATA, R is highly desirable.
  • Data visualization skills using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Advanced Excel is highly desirable.
  • Qualitative data analysis skills using tools such as MaxQDA, NVivo, Atlas.ti are desirable.
  • Prior experience supporting family planning, primary health, immunization and community health programs is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in French is highly desirable.
