Position Title: Business Development Manager (Retail Market)

Our client in manufacturing seeks to hire a BDM (Retail Market).

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the BDM will be in charge of generating sales, growing business and increasing the market share for retail products.

He/she will ensure that his/her team meets the set sales targets.

The company is located in Mlolongo, Machakos County.

Gross Salary 65,000/= KES

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Source and close new business deals, develop and negotiate contracts
  • Identify, explore and pursue new business opportunities in the general trade and modern trade
  • Grow business and increase product market share in Kenya and beyond
  • Attend conferences and industry events to network for business opportunities and partnerships
  • Responsible for cost management and efficiency
  • Examine business risks and advise the company accordingly
  • Identify market and stakeholder needs
  • Develop goals for the retail sales team and ensure they are met
  • Prepare business proposals and make client presentations
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs in the retail market
  • Manage the sales cycle from order taking to the collection of payments
  • Attract new customers, build and manage great customer relationships
  • Ensure customer queries and complaints are resolved
  • Spearhead customer-centred service delivery
  • Supervise, manage, train, coach and mentor sales teams
  • Conduct performance appraisals for the team on a monthly basis
  • Ensure individual and sales team sales targets are met
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time

Required Specifications

  • Minimum of a diploma in marketing or sales and marketing
  • Experience working with SMEs in the manufacturing industry and in a similar position
  • At least 5 years’ experience with 2 years in a team leader position
  • Experience managing a diverse team of salespersons and stakeholders
  • Successful track record in B2C sales and negotiation and experience in online sales techniques
  • A strong customer-oriented focus
  • A strong, resilient, mature and accountable individual
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
