Position Title: Project Officer

WUSC Kenya

WUSC Kenya is implementing several programs that support young refugees to access education and livelihoods

Specific Roles and responsibilities

The Project Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate planning with project stakeholders in various locations including Nairobi, Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps;
  • Provide information and updates on WUSC Kenya’s projects to refugee service-provider organizations and other stakeholders;
  • Organize logistics for various project activities including convening project beneficiaries for group and individual activities;
  • Organize travel logistics for WUSC Kenya and WUSC Ottawa staff members;
  • Respond to project beneficiary communications and community leader inquiries;
  • Interface with relevant Kenya authorities as relevant to the projects, participate in regular meetings with WUSC Kenya and WUSC Ottawa team as and when needed;
  • Ensure the tracking and reporting of project expenditures, in collaboration with the WUSC Kenya finance officer;
  • All other related tasks, as required.

Experience and competencies:

  • Degree completion in a related field
  • 2-3 years of professional experience ideally in the NGO sector, humanitarian sector, refugee sector
  • Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent skills in information technology, spreadsheets and PDF programs in particular
  • Complete fluency, oral, and written in English is essential
  • Willingness to travel within Kenya to various locations including Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality
  • Logistics and meeting planning experience
  • Knowledge of the refugee context in Kenya
